NOVI SAD – BELGRADE – NJEGOŠ MAUSOLEUM – DESCENT VIA KOTOR SERPENTINES – KOTOR

Route length: 8 km
Elevation difference: 900 m descent
Difficulty: MODERATE

Departure from NOVI SAD and BELGRADE on April 3 in the evening hours (exact time and meeting point will be announced a few days before departure), followed by a comfortable drive to Montenegro.

In the morning, we arrive at Lovćen National Park and the famous Njegoš Mausoleum, perched like an eagle’s nest above the magnificent Bay of Kotor.

After the visit, we take a short drive to the old road once used by locals to transport salt and prosciutto between Kotor and Njeguši. From there, we gently zigzag down toward KOTOR, intoxicated by the beauty of the Bay, with special attention to Mount Vrmac, which eagerly awaits us the next day! The magic lasts until the very end of the hike — an experience that will hardly ever fade from our memories.

After the hike, we head to our accommodation and prepare for a well-deserved rest by the sea.

KOTOR – VRMAC – TIVAT – BELGRADE – NOVI SAD

We pack our belongings into the bus and drive to the foot of Mount Vrmac, located in the heart of the most beautiful Montenegrin bay — the Bay of Kotor.

A true Mediterranean-conifer forest hike awaits us, during which we will come across several Austrian fortresses and some of the most stunning viewpoints overlooking the Bay. We breathe in the salty air, fill our eyes with shades of blue, and gradually descend to TIVAT, where we take a lunch break before heading back to BELGRADE and NOVI SAD, with arrival expected during the night between April 5 and 6.

WHAT DO WE USUALLY BRING FOR HIKING?

• A smile, good spirits, and good health.
• Plenty of water — at least 2L per hike, snacks for multiple meals from your backpack, and energy boosters for the climbs and walks ahead.
• Comfortable and sturdy footwear suitable for nature hiking, along with comfortable clothing.
• If you already have your favorite hiking pole, bring it along — if not, nature might provide your new favorite.
• Cap/hat, sunglasses, sunscreen — anything that protects you in case of strong sun.
• Rain jacket, spare/change of clothes, warm and dry layers easily accessible after each hike.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• The number of participants is limited. Participation is available EXCLUSIVELY to members of the HTS Mountaineering Society (ID: 28748817) (contact us for details regarding membership and 2026 membership badges) or any mountaineering society within the Mountaineering Association of Serbia (PSS).
• The participation fee of 12,000 RSD is to be paid to the society’s bank account upon registration.
• Entrance tickets to Lovćen National Park (€3) and Njegoš Mausoleum (€8) are NOT included in the fee.
• The organizers reserve the right to modify the program due to unforeseen circumstances, inaccessible sections, or even cancel the trip if necessary.
• When registering, please send the number of participants, their names, phone numbers, departure city, and confirmation of membership in our organization. Due to the proximity of the event date, cancellations after registration and payment will not be eligible for refunds (as transportation and accommodation cannot be canceled), but replacement of a registered participant is possible.
• For this trip, travel guarantees are not provided in accordance with Article 86, paragraph 3 of the Tourism Law.
• This tour is NOT recommended for individuals with heart conditions or any other health issues that may be negatively affected by physical activity.
• Please be PRECISE and ON TIME for departure, but flexible regarding the duration of hikes.
