WHAT IS THE WALK PROGRAM?

After gathering and introductory words, we will head towards BELI MAJDAN, the former quarry where a short ascent awaits us... an opportunity to stretch, warm up, and prepare for the continuation of our journey, where we must conquer probably the most challenging part of the entire walk. The ascent takes us to the popular ZMAJEVAC picnic area. We will walk through a forest path that will be intersected by the expanse of the RAKOVAČKI KAMENOLOM quarry, now a vast clearing with a few smaller structures, some dating back to the time of the partisans and their battles.

After ZMAJEVAC and a short stretch of asphalt road, we return to the forest path, which will lead us to a hidden unnamed picnic spot with a beautiful viewpoint where we will take a break and enjoy the nature around us. This secluded spot, nestled like a bird's nest, inspired the name of the walk, and we'll see what impression it leaves on you.

The forest is what relaxes us, so we'll quickly return to it after the nesting break and descend towards MALI POTOK, a part of Fruškać known as PODNOŽJE VRATA RAJA (Foot of the Gates of Paradise). A forest corner that intoxicates on sunny days with its rays piercing through the branches and leaves of the beautiful forest found here. The descent is quite steep but with slow and steady steps, we'll turn it into an adrenaline-filled fun that will spice up this adventure.

The continuation of the walk will bring us back to RAKOVAC, where the first weekend houses and cottages will signal the departure from the beautiful nature and the end of our walk, finishing at the same place where we started.

HOW LONG DOES THE WALK TAKE?

The total length of the walk is about 9km, making it excellent for recreational hikers and beginners ready for a challenge. We estimate that the walk will take about 4 hours.

HOW TO GET TO THE STARTING POINT?

• By private transport from Novi Sad, pass through Sremska Kamenica and continue straight until the turnoff for Rakovac. After the turnoff, expect a few more minutes of driving to Rakovac Monastery, where our walk begins.
• For those without transportation or those willing to offer a ride to share costs or simply help someone, you can check the Facebook group we've named "Hajd na hajk," intended for all nature lovers to facilitate the organization of hiking trips.

WHAT DO WE USUALLY BRING FOR HIKING?

• A smile, good mood, and good health. Masks and gloves are not mandatory in nature, as we will observe the recommended distance.
• Minimum 1L of water, usually more.
• Comfortable and sturdy walking shoes.
• Snacks, sandwiches, fruit, lunch—whatever you desire in nature, you can eat without guilt.
• If you already have your favorite walking stick, bring it. If not, nature might hide your new favorite.
• Hat/cap, sunglasses, sunscreen—whatever you consider necessary.
• Spare/change of clothes.

IMPORTANT NOTES!!!

• The number of participants will be limited this time, so please message us the number of people you want to register if you want to join us on the walk.
• The tour is NOT PAID upon registration; it is on a voluntary basis. At the end of the walk, you'll have the opportunity to reward our guides with DONATIONS, as much as you think this tour is worth.
• WEATHER CONDITIONS usually do not affect our walks unless severe weather is forecast. It's up to you to decide if the weather conditions suit you or not.
• The tour is NOT RECOMMENDED for individuals with heart or any other conditions that physical activity could adversely affect.
• Please be PRECISE AND PUNCTUAL regarding the departure time. On the other hand, we won't strictly adhere to the duration schedule of the walk, as we don't know in advance the group's structure.
• We kindly ask all participants in our walks to bring only positive vibes, a cheerful spirit, and good mood. See you there!
