WHAT ARE WE PLANNING?

Anyone who has seen the Mrtvica Canyon in spring knows that no words can truly describe it. And for those who haven’t—you're in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience! At least for a moment, we’ll feel like we’re in Avatar as we pass through a magical forest covered in moss. We’ll also take part in a ritual face wash in the blue waters of one of Montenegro’s coldest rivers and enjoy an exciting walk along a path carved through vertical cliffs. And that’s not all! The breathtaking green fields of Bjelasica and its crystal-clear mountain lakes will be the cherry on top of this adventure!

🕘 Departure: 09.05.2025 at 21:00 from NOVI SAD, 22:15 from BELGRADE, with potential stops for additional passengers.

We’ll arrive at Međurečje in the early morning, the starting point of our hike.

At the very beginning, we’ll encounter the Danilov Bridge, an old stone bridge beneath which the transparent Mrtvica River roars, announcing an endless adventure!

We’ll follow the river, absorbing its beauty, admiring its rapids and cascades, while the Gate of Wishes with its magical vegetation gets closer. Here, we’ll witness otherworldly landscapes and even get the chance to throw a stone into the water and make a wish.

Just when we think this place has exhausted all its magic, we’ll reach the Mrtvica Ledges—a section where the Yugoslav National Army carved a path through sheer rock faces in the 1970s to connect local villages. This unforgettable segment of the trail leads us to a hidden beach deep within the canyon, where we plan to take a refreshing swim in this Montenegrin river gem before hiking back to our starting point.

After the hike, we’ll board the bus for a short drive to Kolašin, where we’ll check in and rest.

11-12.05.2025. KOLAŠIN SKI CENTER – TROGLAVA PEAK – ZEKOVA GLAVA PEAK – PEŠIĆ LAKE – BELGRADE – NOVI SAD

📈 ELEVATION GAIN: 1,000 m (or 550 m if we use the ski lift)
⚡ DIFFICULTY: Challenging

We’ll pack our things and head to the Kolašin Ski Center, the starting point for our Bjelasica trek.

Our first goal is Troglava Peak, which offers stunning views of the surrounding rugged Dinaric Alps and the rolling green meadows of Bjelasica. Next, we’ll continue to Zekova Glava Peak, where we’ll be blown away by yet another spectacular panorama. From here, we’ll get our first glimpse of one of the largest lakes in this mountain range.

A descent will take us to Pešić Lake, a pristine gem hidden deep within the Montenegrin wilderness. We’ll take time to rest and enjoy the peaceful scenery before heading back to our starting point.

Finally, we’ll board the bus, take a break for lunch, and begin our return journey to Belgrade and Novi Sad, arriving the following morning.

WHAT TO BRING FOR HIKING?

• A smile, good spirits, and good health.
• Plenty of water (at least 2L per hike), snacks for multiple meals, and refreshments for the climbs and walks ahead.
• Comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes and suitable outdoor clothing.
• A hiking pole (if you have a favorite, bring it! If not, nature will provide a new one).
• Hat/cap, sunglasses, sunscreen—anything to protect you from strong sun.
• Rain poncho, spare dry clothes, and warm layers within easy reach for after the hike.

IMPORTANT NOTES!

• Limited spots available. Only members of the HTS Mountaineering Club (MB: 28748817) or any mountaineering club within PSS can participate. (Contact us for details on membership and 2024 registration stickers).
• Fee: 5,000 RSD (transportation, payable upon registration to the association’s account) + 6,000 RSD (collected during the trip for accommodation, entrance fees, parking, and tolls).
• Organizers reserve the right to modify the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances, inaccessible routes, or even cancel the trip if necessary.
• When registering, please provide the number of participants, their names, phone numbers, departure location, and proof of membership. Due to the proximity of the event, cancellations will not be possible, and refunds will not be issued. However, participant substitutions will be allowed.
• This trip does not include travel guarantees as per Article 86, Paragraph 3 of the Tourism Law.
• This tour is NOT recommended for people with heart conditions or other health issues that could be negatively affected by physical activity.
• Punctuality is crucial for departure times! However, we will remain flexible with the duration of the hikes.
