NOVI SAD – BELGRADE – MLJET (Veliki Grad Peak & Odysseus Cave)
DISTANCE: 10 km
ELEVATION GAIN: 500 m
DIFFICULTY: MODERATE
Departure from NOVI SAD and BELGRADE on 24 April in the evening (exact time and location will be announced a few days before departure), followed by a relaxed overnight drive to Mljet.
In the early morning hours, we arrive on the island of Mljet. Our first hike takes us to the highest peak of the island, Veliki Grad, offering breathtaking views of Pelješac and Korčula. After reaching the summit, we descend all the way to the sea and the legendary Odysseus Cave. According to legend, Odysseus swam here after a shipwreck and met the nymph Calypso, who kept him on the island for seven years.
After the hike, we head to our accommodation for a well-deserved rest.

MLJET (Big Lake, Small Lake & Montokuc Peak) – BELGRADE – NOVI SAD
DISTANCE: 13 km
ELEVATION GAIN: 200 m
DIFFICULTY: MODERATE
In the morning, we check out of our accommodation and begin our hike.
Today we explore the most popular and strictly protected part of the island, within Mljet National Park. We will make an easy circular walk around the Big and Small Lakes and hike up to Montokuc, which offers an excellent view of both lakes and the “tail” of this green island.
After completing the hike, we take a lunch break and then begin our return journey to Belgrade and Novi Sad, with arrival expected late in the evening.
WHAT DO WE USUALLY BRING FOR A HIKE?
A smile, good vibes, and good health.
Plenty of water, at least 2 liters per hike, snacks, and energy boosts for the climbs and walks ahead.
Food, fruit, snacks, and sweets for short breaks along the way.
Comfortable and sturdy footwear suitable for hiking in nature.
If you already have your favorite hiking poles, bring them. If not, nature might help you find a new favorite.
Cap/hat, sunglasses, sunscreen – whatever you feel will protect you from strong sun.
Spare/change of clothes, warm and dry layers easily accessible after each hike.
Swimsuit, towel, flip-flops.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The number of participants is limited. Only members of the Hiking Society HTS (MB: 28748817) or any hiking club within the Mountaineering Association of Serbia (PSS) are eligible to join. Contact us for details regarding membership and 2026 membership badges.
The fee of 14,500 RSD is paid to the association’s bank account upon registration.
The entrance ticket to Mljet National Park (around 15 EUR per person) is NOT included in the price and is paid on site (required only for the second day).
Organizers reserve the right to modify the program due to unforeseen circumstances, restricted access to certain sections, or even cancellation of the trip.
When registering, please send the number of participants, their names, phone numbers, place of departure, and proof of membership. Due to the proximity of the event date, cancellation of transport and accommodation after payment will not be possible, and therefore refunds cannot be issued. However, a replacement participant may be arranged.
For this trip, travel guarantees in accordance with Article 86, Paragraph 3 of the Tourism Law are not provided.
This tour is NOT recommended for individuals with heart conditions or any other health issues that could be negatively affected by physical activity.
Please be precise and punctual regarding departure time, while remaining flexible about the exact duration of hikes.
