ONE-DAY TRIP – BALEA IN THE CARPATHIANS
How does a drive along the most beautiful road in the world sound? A road that winds through the heart of the Romanian Carpathians and leads us to the magical Balea Lake, located at over 2000 meters above sea level. There awaits a view that stretches to infinity, rugged peaks, and all the magic of Europe's wildest mountains!

NOVI SAD – BELGRADE – TRANSFĂGĂRĂȘAN – BALEA LAKE – CAPRA LAKE AND PEAK

DIFFICULTY: Moderate
Departure on July 12th, 2025 from Novi Sad (ATP Vojvodina location around midnight), continuing to Belgrade (near Sava Center around 1 AM). (Exact departure times and locations will be shared one day before the trip.) We then take a relaxing drive toward Romania with breaks for group rest and border formalities.
In the early morning hours, we will drive to Balea Lake via the most beautiful road in the world! Hairpin turn by hairpin turn, we’ll marvel at the idea of a “mad” dictator who carved a road through the heart of the Carpathians! Then comes Balea Lake, which will amaze us with its dramatic surroundings, nestled right below the highest Carpathian peaks.
We’ll begin our hike during which we’ll summit several peaks over 2400 meters, including the most famous – Capra Peak, and also visit Capra Lake, a smaller and more secluded counterpart to Balea. All in all, a hike that leaves no one indifferent!
After the hike, we’ll have a lunch break, then return to our starting point around midnight (depending on traffic and border conditions).

WHAT TO BRING FOR HIKING?
A smile, good spirit, and good health
Plenty of water – minimum 2L for the hike, backpack snacks for multiple meals, and refreshments for climbs and walks
Comfortable and sturdy footwear for hiking, and suitable clothing
Your favorite hiking stick if you have one – if not, nature may offer you a new favorite
Cap/hat, sunglasses, sunscreen – anything you need for sun protection
Raincoat, spare/dry clothes within reach for after the hike
IMPORTANT NOTES
The number of participants is limited. Only members of the MOUNTAINEERING CLUB HTS (ID: 28748817) or any other club affiliated with the Mountaineering Association of Serbia (PSS) may join. (Contact us for membership and 2025 stamp purchase details.)
The organizers reserve the right to change the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances, inaccessibility of certain sections, or even to cancel the trip.
This trip does not include travel protection under Article 86, paragraph 3 of the Serbian Tourism Law.
When registering, please send the number of participants, their names, phone numbers, departure location, and confirmation of club membership. Due to the short time before the event, cancellations will not be possible after payment. However, you may substitute another participant.
This tour is NOT recommended for people with heart or other serious medical conditions that may be aggravated by physical activity.
Please be PUNCTUAL and PRECISE regarding departure times, while keeping a flexible mindset when it comes to hike durations.

THE AGENCY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ORGANIZE TRANSPORT WITH PRICE ADJUSTMENT OR IN COOPERATION WITH ANOTHER AGENCY.
THE AGENCY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADJUST PRICES IN CASE OF EXCHANGE RATE FLUCTUATIONS.

The agency recommends that the traveler takes out individual trip cancellation insurance, as in all other cases cancellations will be handled strictly according to the General Terms and Conditions – item 10 CANCELLATION OF TRAVEL BY THE TRAVELER.
Seating arrangements on the bus are made based on the date of payment/contract signing. Elderly passengers, pregnant women, families with children (under 12), and passengers with documented medical conditions are given priority. The first row of seats is reserved for staff and is not usually available to passengers.
Upon signing the contract, the traveler is required to provide all requested information, including the passport number with which the border will be crossed. If not provided at the time of contract signing, the deadline for submission is 48 hours later.
For travelers with a red biometric passport of the Republic of Serbia: to enter the EU, the passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the return date; to enter Turkey, at least 6 months.
Please ensure all travel documents are valid, especially for children.
The travel organizer is not authorized to assess the validity of travel or other documents. Travelers who are not Serbian citizens must check the visa requirements themselves. It is recommended to check EU entry requirements (funds, insurance, accommodation confirmations, etc.) on www.europa.rs or with relevant embassies/consulates. The agency is not responsible if border authorities deny entry to the EU.
Passengers who pay extra for an additional seat on the bus are not entitled to a refund if seats remain unoccupied during the trip.
48 hours before departure, travelers will receive a message with all trip details. If you do not receive one, contact the agency.
Rest stops are planned approximately every 3.5–4 hours, depending on conditions and rest area availability.
Please take care of your travel documents, money, and belongings. Leaving valuables on the bus or in hotel rooms is not recommended; the agency and service providers are not liable. Claims can only be made for insured items through the traveler’s insurance provider.
This is a group trip, and participants must understand and respect group dynamics. Music and films on the bus are of neutral content. Air temperature in the bus cannot be adjusted individually.
Each passenger is allowed one suitcase and one carry-on item.
Due to scheduling, there will be no stop at the border for “tax-free” reimbursement processing.
The organizer reserves the right to modify the program due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., traffic, border delays, or closed locations).
Optional excursions and activities listed in the program are subject to change or rescheduling. Be aware that some attractions, shops, restaurants, or museums may be closed due to local holidays.
The amount of free time for individual activities during the trip may vary based on logistical conditions.
Travelers planning museum/gallery visits are advised to check opening hours in advance and coordinate with free time in the itinerary.
Hotel category ratings in the program reflect the official ratings at the time of contracting with foreign partners and are subject to change.
All times in the program refer to the local time of the destination country.
The signatory of the travel contract or group leader is responsible for informing all group members about the agreed travel program, payment terms, insurance, and the General Terms and Conditions.
Minors must carry notarized parental/guardian consent when traveling.
International health insurance is mandatory for certain destinations and is strongly recommended for all trips. Travelers without insurance bear responsibility in case of issues during border control.
The agency is not liable for verbal, phone, or electronic information. Only the written travel program posted at the agency is valid.
The organizer reserves the right to offer Last Minute prices that differ from regular prices. Clients who booked earlier at regular prices are not entitled to refunds for the difference.
The General Terms and Conditions of Travel of Lazar Milošević PR HTS apply to this program. Special notes are an integral part of the travel program.
