WHAT ARE WE PLANNING?
Eagles are increasingly rare over the forests and fields of Fruška Gora; it seems as if they have lifted their wings from everything, even abandoning the Eagle's Rocks. These rocks were formed around 200 million years ago and were once inhabited by these magnificent celestial rulers.
WHAT ARE WE VISITING?
BEOČIN MONASTERY - OSOVLJE - EAGLE'S ROCKS - CRVENI ČOT - BEOČIN MONASTERY
WHEN ARE WE STARTING?
GATHERING AND DEPARTURE ON SATURDAY,JUNE 7TH, AT 09:00 AM, AT BEOCIN MONASTERY
WHAT IS THE WALKING ITINERARY?
The walk starts from BEOČIN MONASTERY, passing by a mini version of the Versailles Garden created by the French, who later worked on it. The path leads us gently uphill on a gravel road, separating us from a stream and leading to an ascent through a coniferous forest towards Dobri Potok and then further to OSOVLJE and an abandoned hotel.
After recalling its glorious days, we will continue the ascent to the EAGLE'S ROCKS, about 3.5 km of constant ascent. This site was formed around 200 million years ago through sedimentation beneath the ground, with its peaks now above the surface, serving as a kind of viewpoint.
After a break, we start the return journey towards CRVENI ČOT, covering about 2 km. It is the modest highest peak of Fruška Gora at 539 meters above sea level, transformed into a military base and not particularly inspiring today.
From there, we descend back to the Beočin Monastery through a beautiful forest path. The descent is approximately 5 km long.
