ONE-DAY HIKING TRIP – SKITARA (Sjenič Viewpoint & Veliki Stolac Peak, Tara Mountain)

Autumn has already begun to make its entrance, yet the sunshine still pours through our windows. There is no better place to admire the fifty shades of red than on Tara Mountain. This time, we're heading to a place you don't stumble upon by chance. We're exploring the very heart of Tara—not a bone, diving into its depths—not the sea, and climbing high—not into space. Although Kosmos says: it's possible!

Itinerary

NOVI SAD – BELGRADE – PREDOV KRST – VELIKI STOLAC – SJENIČ VIEWPOINT

• Trail length: 20 km
• Elevation gain: 600 m
• Difficulty: Moderate

Departure is scheduled for October 11, 2026, from Novi Sad (ATP Vojvodina bus station, around 3:00 AM), followed by a stop in Belgrade (near the Sava Center, around 4:15 AM). The exact departure time and meeting point will be confirmed one day before the trip.

We will enjoy a comfortable drive toward Tara Mountain, with scheduled breaks for rest and border crossing procedures.

In the early morning, we will arrive at Predov Krst, one of the most secluded areas of Tara Mountain. A wide forest road leads us through dense woodland to Veliki Stolac, the highest peak of Tara. From the summit, breathtaking panoramic views stretch across the Drina River and the town of Višegrad, leaving every visitor speechless.

After reaching the summit, we begin a gentle descent, mostly along the same trail, except for one section leading to the spectacular Sjenič Viewpoint, famous for its tunnel-like wooden frame structure. The view extends endlessly across dramatic cliffs covered with conifer forests, making it easy to understand why the ancient Slavic god Tar chose this beautiful mountain as his home.

From there, we continue back to Predov Krst.

After completing the hike, we plan to stop for lunch before returning home in the evening.

Tour Price

• Departure from Novi Sad: 5,000 RSD
• Departure from Belgrade: 4,000 RSD
• Children under 14 years of age receive a 10% discount.

• Travel health insurance with coverage of up to €30,000. Travel health insurance is strongly recommended for international travel for your safety.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING FOR A HIKING TRIP?

• A smile, a positive attitude, and good health.
• Plenty of water (at least 2 liters), snacks for several breaks, and energy food for the climbs and hikes ahead.
• Comfortable, sturdy hiking footwear suitable for nature trails, along with comfortable outdoor clothing.
• If you already have your favorite hiking poles, bring them along. If not, nature may help you find your new favorite walking stick.
• A cap or hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, or anything else you consider useful for protection from strong sunlight.
• A rain jacket, spare clothes, and a warm, dry change of clothing to keep handy after the hike.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• The number of participants is limited. Only members of HTS Mountaineering Society (Registration No. 28748817) or any mountaineering club affiliated with the Mountaineering Association of Serbia (PSS) are eligible to participate. Contact us for membership details and information about purchasing the 2026 membership badge.
• The organizers reserve the right to modify the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances, inaccessible trail sections, or, if necessary, cancel the trip.
• This trip is not covered by travel guarantee protection in accordance with Article 86, Paragraph 3 of the Serbian Tourism Law.
• When registering, please provide the number of participants, their full names, phone numbers, departure location, and proof of membership in our organization. Due to the proximity of the departure date, transportation cannot be cancelled after registration and payment, and refunds will not be possible. However, replacing a registered participant with another person may be arranged.
• This hike is NOT recommended for people with heart conditions or any other medical issues that may be aggravated by physical activity.
• Please be punctual for departure times, while understanding that the duration of the hike may vary depending on trail conditions and the pace of the group.
• We kindly ask all participants to bring only positive energy, a cheerful spirit, and a good mood. See you on the trail!

Tour Conditions

• The program is based on a minimum of 50 participants.
• If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the organizer may cancel the trip up to seven days before departure, in accordance with Article 108 of the Serbian Consumer Protection Law.
• The agency reserves the right to adjust transportation arrangements, revise prices, or cooperate with another travel agency if necessary.
• Prices may be adjusted in the event of significant changes in exchange rates.
• The agency is not responsible for verbal information that differs from the official written itinerary.
• The organizer reserves the right to change the order of activities within the itinerary.
• The General Terms and Conditions of the organizing travel agency apply to this program.
• These Special Notes form an integral part of the travel program.

SPECIAL NOTES

• The agency recommends purchasing trip cancellation insurance. Otherwise, any cancellation by the traveler will be handled exclusively in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions, Section 10 – Traveler's Cancellation of the Trip.
• Seating on the bus is assigned according to the date of payment and signing of the travel contract. Priority is given to senior travelers, pregnant women, families with children (up to 12 years old), and travelers with documented medical conditions. The first row of seats is reserved for official use unless otherwise determined. Passengers are required to accept the seat assigned by the agency.
• When signing the travel contract, travelers must provide all requested information, including the passport or travel document number used for border crossings. Missing information must be submitted within 48 hours.
• Travelers holding a Serbian biometric passport should ensure that their passport remains valid:
  • At least 3 months after returning from travel when entering the European Union.
  • At least 6 months after returning when traveling to the Republic of Türkiye.
• Please ensure that all travel documents, especially children's passports, are valid.
• The organizer is not authorized to verify the validity of travel documents. Travelers who are not Serbian citizens are responsible for checking visa requirements for their destination. Travelers are advised to consult the EU Delegation in Serbia, relevant embassies, or consulates regarding entry requirements, including financial means, health insurance, accommodation confirmation, and other conditions. The agency accepts no responsibility if border authorities refuse entry.
• Travelers who pay for an additional bus seat are not entitled to a refund if empty seats remain available during the trip.
• Approximately 48 hours before departure, participants will receive detailed departure information. If you do not receive it, please contact the agency.
• Rest stops are planned approximately every 3.5–4 hours, depending on road conditions and service area availability.
• Travelers are responsible for safeguarding their travel documents, money, and personal belongings throughout the trip. Leaving valuables in the bus or hotel rooms is not recommended. Neither the carrier nor the hotel is liable for lost or stolen items. In the event of a break-in, compensation may only be claimed through the traveler's insurance provider for insured belongings.
• This is a group tour, and certain arrangements are made for the benefit of the entire group. Music, films, and onboard conditions are selected to suit a broad audience. Bus temperature cannot be individually adjusted for each passenger. Mutual understanding and cooperation among participants are expected.
• Luggage space on the bus is limited. Each traveler may bring one suitcase and one piece of hand luggage.
• Due to the travel schedule, the bus cannot wait at border crossings for Tax Free refund procedures.
• The organizer reserves the right to modify the itinerary due to objective circumstances, such as traffic congestion, border delays, or closure of attractions.
• Optional excursions and sightseeing schedules may also be modified due to unforeseen circumstances. Please note that certain attractions, museums, restaurants, shopping centers, or other facilities may be closed during national or religious holidays.
• The duration of free time during the tour depends on operational circumstances such as arrival times, sightseeing duration, and transportation schedules.
• Travelers planning to visit museums or galleries are advised to verify opening hours in advance and coordinate their visits with the available free time.
• Hotel classifications listed in the program are the official categories valid at the time of contracting with international partners. Any subsequent changes beyond the organizer's knowledge cannot be considered grounds for complaint.
• All times listed in the itinerary are based on the local time of the destination.
• The person signing the travel contract or the group representative is responsible for informing all participants about the travel program, payment conditions, insurance, and the organizer's General Terms and Conditions.
• Minors traveling abroad must carry a notarized parental or legal guardian consent, where required by law.
• International travel health insurance is mandatory for certain destinations. We strongly recommend obtaining such insurance for all international trips.
• The agency accepts no responsibility for information provided verbally, by telephone, or electronically. Only the written travel program published by the agency is considered official.
• The organizer reserves the right to offer Last Minute promotions at prices different from the published price list. Travelers who have already booked or paid for the trip are not entitled to reimbursement of any price difference.
