ONE-DAY EXCURSION – FIVE RUSSIAN MONKS (Path of the Monks of Petrus)

NOVI SAD – BELGRADE – PATH OF THE PETRUS MONKS

ROUTE LENGTH: 15 km

Departure on 23.08.2026 from NOVI SAD (ATP Vojvodina station around 04:00), continuing towards BELGRADE (near Sava Center around 05:15). Exact time and pick-up points will be confirmed one day in advance. We then continue a relaxed drive towards Ćuprija with breaks along the way.

In the early morning hours we arrive at the small village of Popovac, a place through which the Crnica River flows.

We start the hike following the river, crossing from one bank to the other depending on water levels – and there might even be some moments where we take off our shoes and walk barefoot across. We then ascend a hill where the medieval city of Petrus once stood. Today, only a donjon tower remains, offering a million-dollar view over the Crnica gorge.

Afterwards, we descend back to the river, where along its banks lie the remains of several medieval monasteries that tell a very different story from the one we see today. We go back in time to when this was one of the central regions of Serbia, and when monks, merchants, peasants, and various travelers walked through the valley.

We continue following the river flow, enjoying the deep shade, knowing that at the end awaits the beautiful village of Sisevac with its unique open-air pools, surrounded by dense deciduous forests.

To finish the hike, we will refresh ourselves with a swim, have time for lunch, and then slowly return towards Belgrade and Novi Sad.

WHAT DO WE USUALLY BRING FOR HIKING?!

• A smile, good will, and good health.
• Plenty of water, minimum 2L per hike, snacks from your backpack for multiple meals, refreshments for the ascents and walks ahead.
• Comfortable and sturdy footwear suitable for walking in nature, comfortable clothing.
• If you already have your favorite trekking poles, bring them; if not, nature is the one that may reveal your new favorite ones.
• Cap/hat, sunglasses, sunscreen – anything that protects you from strong sun.
• Raincoat, spare/change of clothes, warm and dry layers within reach after each hike.

IMPORTANT NOTES!!!

• The number of participants is limited, and participation is ONLY allowed for members of the HTS MOUNTAINEERING CLUB (MB:28748817) (contact us for membership details and purchase of 2026 membership cards) or any mountaineering club within the Mountaineering Association of Serbia (PSS).
• The organizers reserve the right to change the program due to unforeseen circumstances, inability to access certain sections, or even cancellation of the trip.
• This trip is NOT covered by travel guarantee insurance in accordance with Article 86, paragraph 3 of the Tourism Law.
• Please send us the number of participants, their names, phone numbers, and departure location when registering, along with proof of membership in our organization. After registration and payment, due to the proximity of the trip date, cancellation of transport will not be possible and therefore no refund will be issued; however, replacement of a registered participant will be allowed.
• The trip is NOT recommended for persons with heart conditions or any other health issues that may be negatively affected by physical activity.
• Please be precise and punctual regarding departure times, but do not strictly rely on the exact hiking schedule.
• All participants are kindly asked to bring ONLY positive vibes, a cheerful spirit, and good mood. See you!
• This trip is based on a minimum of 50 participants.
• In case of insufficient number of participants, the cancellation deadline is 7 days before the start of the trip, according to Article 108 of the Consumer Protection Law.
• The agency reserves the right to operate transport with price adjustment or in cooperation with another agency.
• The agency reserves the right to adjust prices in case of changes in the foreign exchange market.
• The agency is not responsible for any different verbal information about the travel program.
• The organizer reserves the right to change the order of individual program activities.

SPECIAL NOTES

• The agency recommends that travelers purchase individual trip cancellation insurance, otherwise cancellations will be handled according to the General Terms and Conditions (Section 10 – Withdrawal from the trip).
• Seat arrangement in the bus is determined by the date of payment/signing of the travel contract. Priority seating is given to elderly passengers, pregnant women, families with children (up to 12 years), and passengers with documented health issues. The first row seats are official seats and are not assigned unless necessary. The passenger must accept the seat assigned by the agency.
• The traveler must provide all required information when signing the contract, including passport/ID details. If not provided at the time of signing, it must be submitted within 48 hours.
• For Serbian citizens with biometric passports, the passport must be valid at least 3 months after returning from EU countries and at least 6 months for Turkey.
• Travelers must ensure their travel documents are valid, especially for children.
• The organizer is not authorized to assess the validity of travel documents. Non-Serbian citizens must independently check visa requirements.
• Travelers are advised to check EU entry conditions (financial means, insurance, accommodation confirmation, etc.) via the EU Delegation website in Serbia www.europa.rs or at the relevant embassy/consulate. The agency is not responsible if border authorities deny entry.
• Passengers who pay for an extra seat in the bus are not entitled to a refund if empty seats remain.
• 48 hours before departure, the organizer will send final departure details. If not received, passengers must contact the agency.
• Breaks are planned approximately every 3.5–4 hours of driving, depending on road conditions and available facilities.
• Passengers are responsible for their belongings; leaving valuables in the bus or hotel is not recommended.
• Group travel rules apply: music and films are neutral; bus temperature cannot be individually adjusted. Understanding among passengers is required.
• Luggage allowance is one suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per person.
• No stops will be made for tax-free refund procedures at borders due to schedule constraints.
• The organizer reserves the right to modify the program due to unforeseen circumstances (traffic, borders, closures, etc.).
• Changes in optional excursions and schedules may occur due to objective circumstances.
• Opening hours of museums, shops, and attractions may vary due to holidays.
• Free time duration depends on the itinerary and conditions.
• Travelers interested in museums or galleries should check opening hours in advance.
• Hotel category is valid at the time of contract signing; later changes are not relevant.
• All times are local.
• The contract holder or group representative must inform all participants about the program and terms.
• Minors must have parental consent.
• International travel insurance is recommended or required for certain destinations.
• Only written programs are valid; verbal information is not binding.
• The organizer may offer last-minute prices different from published ones without refunding differences.
