WHAT ARE WE PLANNING?
This time, we’ve decided to visit the most popular summer spot on Fruška Gora. Although it’s still a bit early for swimming, a pleasant and relaxing break awaits us at the freshly renovated and refreshed lake! A must-see on this walk is also the newest monastery on Fruška Gora — Bešenovo Monastery, which will welcome us warmly as always.

JABUKA – BEŠENOVO MONASTERY – BEŠENOVAČKO LAKE – BEŠENOVO MONASTERY – JABUKA
WHEN ARE WE STARTING?
Meeting point and departure will be at the Jabuka Memorial Complex on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
WHAT IS THE WALKING PROGRAM?
The walk starts from the Jabuka complex, from where we descend about 2.6 km — first along a gravel road, then through a forest trail — to the seventeenth jewel of Fruška Gora, Bešenovo Monastery.
The monastery is still under reconstruction, which began in 2004 after it was mined and completely destroyed in 1944. We will take a short break there before continuing toward one of Fruška Gora’s hidden oases.
On the way, we will pass the monument to Sima Relić, the first commander of the First Fruška Gora Partisan Detachment. The monument is located near an estate known as Balkan Retreat, where a group of Dutch hosts run an organic farm and a nature-oriented hostel.
From the monastery to Beli Kamen Lake, better known as Bešenovačko Lake, there is about 1.6 km of mostly flat walking along rural roads. Like many lakes in the area, it was formed by stone excavation, and today it represents a true oasis during warm days — a perfect place to relax both body and mind.
After our stay at the lake, we will walk back the same route — 1.6 km on flat terrain, followed by a steady 2.6 km uphill climb back to our starting point at Jabuka.
HOW LONG DOES THE WALK TAKE?
The total route is about 9 km long. It will take approximately 5 hours to complete, including breaks at the monastery and the lake. This makes the tour suitable for beginners and recreational hikers.
